Casita bonita. Excellent stay at ‘El cano chico’. Very satisfied with the choice for this friendly little house, and the extra’s: the view (Sierra de Francia), the village, the ‘alimentacion’ next door and the bar at the plaza plus the warm welcome by Angela and Frederic ( our ‘guide to the galaxy’ with his telescope). Good region for walking (cammino’s in abundance); also in winter very nice to be outside
Delightful house and area. We booked this property after reading a newspaper article which said that the Sierra de Francia is one of the most beautiful areas of Spain and we were not disappointed. We stayed for 5 weeks and we would have been happy to stay for longer. We had breakfast on the balcony every morning, overlooking the garden, with the rising sun and Sierra in background. The house is comfortable and well equiped and the garden is ideal for sitting or eating in, with built in barbeque and fresh fruit and vegetables. Frederik and Angela are delightful and generous hosts with two telescopes to view the heavens for the astronomically inclined. We shopped locally in Villanueva (next door) and nearby villages. Both Salamanca and its two cathedrals and Ciudad Rodrigo are an easy drive. Most of the time was spent walking, with many enjoyable walks directly from Villanueva or from neighbouring villages. Thoroughly recommended and we would certainly return.
Excelencia rural. Hemos pasado ocho días estupendos en la Casa rural La Fuente, que regentan Angela y Frederic, que son encantadores. La casa está muy bien, limpia, bonita y acogedora. Muy bien el jardín y el huerto. Las vistas desde la terraza son especiales y el entorno, con localidades muy típicas, como Mogarraz, Sequeros, Miranda del Castañar…, merecen una visita. Además hemos podido estar con nuestras tres mascotas. A pesar del tiempo lluvioso que ha hecho estos días hemos podido conocer detalles de las estrellas y constelaciones de la mano de Frédéric que, entre nube y nube, nos ha explicado y hemos podido observar con su telescopio. Entorno muy tranquilo en una casa rural bien acondicionada y con amplias posibilidades para realizar excursiones y rutas.
Un petit nid douillet et joliment décoré, des hôtes très attentionnés et toujours de bon conseil. Que demander de mieux ? Notre séjour dans cette belle région d’Espagne restera pour nous un excellent souvenir et nous ne manquerons pas d’en parler autour de nous.
A lovely area. The apartment has a beautiful view of the sierra. It has a lovely, well -maintained garden to sit in and relax. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable and the owners friendly, helpful and tolerant of the many mistakes in my Spanish! The village shop is almost next door, and is well stocked.
Excepcional. Hemos estado dos familias con niños pequeños. La casa es deliciosa, su jardín, el huerto, la propia casa, que está decorada con muchísimo gusto, con todos los detalles (incluso cuentos infantiles en la habitación de los niños, libros para adultos, juguetes…), no falta de nada, y con el detalle encantador de los dueños que nos regalaron un frasco enorme de mermelada casera para desayunar. Ángela y Frederic, un encanto ambos, ´su hospitalidad hace que tu estancia sea más agradable si cabe. El entorno excepcional (Mogarraz, La Alberca, Miranda y San Martín del Castañar, la Peña de Francia, etc.). Repetiremos seguro, pero más días para disfrutar como merece. Además nos quedó pendiente ver las estrellas. Un abrazo Ángela y Frederic y muchas gracias.
Fantastic week in La Fuente. We were in Spain for an event in Salamanca, and spent a wonderful week in Villaneuva del conde, staying at La Fuente. By chance we were there for the week long fiesta which made our stay even more special – great hikes and food during the day, flamenco, bands, dancing and much more all night. La Fuente was perfect: spacious, clean, peaceful, with fantastic views of the mountains, a beautiful garden, and it is right in the heart of the village. There is nothing negative we can think of about the accomodation. Frederic and Angela are wonderful hosts. They provide all the information for the area (hikes etc) and star gazing with Frederic and his telescope is an amazing experience. It was a real pleasure to meet them both. The kids really loved the natural swimming pool near the village. We have stayed in many Home Away or VRBO accomodations over the years, and La Fuente is definitely one of our favorites.
Super. Nous étions dans le petit gite, séjour formidable, l’environnement est très beau et Frédéric et Angela très agréable ! Nous avons aussi beaucoup aimé le jardin et la possibilité de s’y servir en légumes bios.
Excellent séjour. Accueil trés chaleureux. Beaucoup d’authenticité dans nos rapports avec Angela et frédéric. La nuit de l’astronomie avec Frederic. Trés compétent en astronomie. Matériel utilisé trés performant. D’autre part une excellente soirée passée avec eux avant notre départ. Trés important, le potager mis à notre disposition. Les légumes, nombreux, sont délicieux.
Uitstekend verblijf. Wij hebben een fantastische week gehad. Zeer goed verzorgd. Klein maar perfect ingericht en van alles voorzien. Heel schoon. Het uitzicht , de omgeving ,de tuIn, waar alle groenten en fruit geplukt mocht worden maakte dit tot een heerlijk verblijf. De omgeving met allerlei wandelroutes was schitterend.
Pragtfuld beliggenhed. Ved ankomst til landsbyen tænke vi: Er 8 dage for meget på dette sted? Det var det bestemt ikke; vi kunne godt have brugt meget længere tid. Dejlig velfungerende bolig, skøn have, flot udsigt, spændende landsbyer og natur i nærheden, men primært meget venlige og hjælpsomme mennesker i landsbyen. Især værtsparret var yderst behjælpelige med alt lige fra at give et mindre sprogkursus i spansk, at komme med turforslag og til at give et par interessante og lærerige aftener ved stjernekikkerten.

Nos gustó mucho la casa la primera vez que fuimos y hemos vuelto a repetir por segunda vez. La casa está en un lugar muy tranquilo y con muy buenas vistas. Es muy acogedora, calentita y está muy limpia. Las habitaciones son amplias y las camas muy cómodas. En cuanto al trato con los dueños no puedo poner tampoco nada malo, muy simpáticos y amables, y siempre estaban a nuestra disposición si lo necesitábamos. Sin duda volvería todas las veces que pudiera. Un saludo y hasta la próxima.
Estuvimos muy a gusto. Todo muy limpio y acogedor. Estuvimos en la casa del Caño Chico con nuestras dos niñas y se lo pasaron genial. Fred y Angela siempre pendientes de todo, y además nos enseñaron la luna muy de cerca….una experiencia que no se ve todos los días. Merece la pena, tenemos muy buen recuerdo.
En perle i et naturreservat. Vi havde en spændende uge i denne pragtfulde lejlighed med adgang til dejlig have med bjergudsigt, og som vi nød meget. Eneste mangel, når man som os kom fra en heldagsrejse, var manglen på et indkøbssted, og restaurant i byen. Men ved stor hjælp fra vores værter, så lykkedes det at få skaffet lidt nødvendigt forrad. Vi blev nok så begejstrede for området, Sierra de Francia, og alle dets maleriske landsbyer med de flotte bindingsværkshuse, at vi nok en anden gang vil vende tilbage for videre udforskning, og kan næppe finde et bedre sted at indlogere os end hos familien Creusot.

Et fantastisk sted med vidunderlige omgivelser og en pragtfuld udsigt. At komme til Frederics og Angelas hus og bo der er en sjælden og vidunderlig oplevelse. Alting fungerer – selvom internettet svigter af og til. Huset er gennemgribende moderniseret og indretningen er typisk spansk landstil. Haven er en oase og udsigten findes ikke meget bedre. Frederic og Angela er gode og hjælpsomme værter og området byder på store natur- og dyrelivsoplevelser. Folk i landsbyen er søde og imødekommende og lette at komme i kontakt med. Det er en spansk idyl.
Estuvimos a finales de octubre, su bucólico paisaje combinado con un trato muy humano y profesional de sus anfitriones convirtieron ese fin de semana en algo único. Solo comparable con la «MERMELADA» de frambuesas con la que te recibe un hogar: Limpio, agradable e ideal para hacer barbacoas. Los alrededores espectaculares sobre todo Miranda del Castañar, probablemente uno de los pueblos con mas historia de Europa. En definitiva un sitio en el que pasar unos días por un precio asequible es ideal para gente amante de lo autentico, buena gastronomía, paisaje, historia y cultura. Es de destacar su huerto, bien cuidado y con productos tan generosos como la tierra en la que crecen y como las personas que los cuidan. !!Recomendable 100%!!
Mr. Creusot was extremely helpful -dealt with any problems promptly. Our dog had to go to the vet before our return, in accordance with pet passport regulations. He arranged an appointment with the vet, and accompanied us there to translate if there were any difficulties. On the night we arrived, we had been delayed and, by the time we got there, the village shop was shut. He contacted the owner, who opened up for us, which was very helpful. The area where the house is situated is beautiful, with lots of well signposted walks…M. Creusot could not have been more helpful, the property was ideal.
Le gite est magnifique. L’accueil des proprietaires tres sympa. En conclusion une adresse qu’on devrait garder pour soi et ne pas l’ebruiter!
Sterrenvakantie!…Ideaal voor rustzoekers. Een goed uur van Salamanca, 20 minuten van La Alberca. Dorpjes met veel vervallen huizen – een jaren ’50-sfeer. Goed voor (pittige) natuurwandelingen. Frédéric en Angela zijn fijne mensen. Ze staan altijd klaar, maar nooit opdringerig. Hoogtepunt was de sterrenexcursie die Frédéric ons aanbood: we hebben veel sterrenstelsels, sterrenclusters en nevels gezien. En Jupiter en Saturnus natuurlijk. Klasse!
Séjour en février 2013 avec un bébé de 6 mois (équipements bébé à disposition). Malgré quelques jours de pluie lors de notre séjour, il a tellement de chose à voir, à faire et à visiter que nous avons passé une semaine vraiment formidable. Frédéric et Angela sont au petit soin pour leurs invités, très sympathiques et toujours disponibles pour nous renseigner sur la région (qu’ils connaissent comme leur poche). Amateurs d’authenticité et de gastronomie, la région est faite pour vous. En dehors des fêtes calme assuré dans le village. Si vous voulez changer du décor de la sierra, Salamanque est très facilement accessible à 1h de voiture (à visiter absolument). Je recommande le gîte sans aucune hésitation.
I cannot say enough good things about our stay last summer at Casa Fuente. We have 2 young kids (ages 3 & 8) and over the 6 weeks we spent in Spain, Casa Fuente remains their favorite week – mine too. If you are looking for peaceful village life, while still having plenty of nearby places to visit, this is the place. We loved exploring villages, swimming at the natural «swimming pool», racing to meet the bread truck in the morning, enjoying the beautiful garden and picking cherries right off the trees in the yard. The house is rustic charming and lots of space. Frederic and Angela were so helpful and kind – even when we needed some urgent medical care for one of the kids during the stay. Our kids loved the telescope viewing that Frederic shared with us. We have been to Spain many times, but this is first time I have been compelled to write a review. Casa Fuente feels that special. We hope to be back!
