55 km from Villanueva, in the sierra de Béjar, you can find
the recently opened ski resort, La Covatilla, with two pistes.

the
fiestas: In
the summer all the villages of the sierra organise their fiestas
dedicated to the patron saint of each village. Each fiesta lasts
a minimum of three days, multiplied by the number of villages,
gives you some idea of the summer atmosphere. Rare is the summer
night when there is not some open air fiesta, free to all and sundry,
in one of the villages round about. And if you like bulls, then
this is the place for you.
